Interior Design Cost in Bengaluru: What to Expect in 2025

A realistic look at what residential interior design costs in Bengaluru — by scope, specification, and home type.

Understanding what interior design actually costs in Bengaluru requires getting past per-sqft generalisations and into the real drivers of spend. For a 3BHK apartment in the 1,400–1,800 sqft range, a full joinery and soft furnishing package — covering kitchen, wardrobes, storage units, and key room finishes — typically runs between ₹18 and ₹35 lakhs depending on specification level. That range is wide because the choices made within scope matter as much as the scope itself.

The three biggest cost drivers in a Bengaluru residential fit-out are kitchen cabinetry, wardrobe systems, and flooring. Together these three categories account for roughly 55–65% of most full-home budgets. Specifying these early and accurately is the fastest way to arrive at a reliable number. An entry-level modular kitchen runs around ₹2.5–3.5 lakhs; a premium version for the same layout with European hardware and engineered stone counters easily crosses ₹7–10 lakhs.

Premium home interior
Premium interiors in Bengaluru reflect the specification choices made during the design phase.

Premium developments in Whitefield, Sarjapur Road, and the North Bengaluru corridors typically require higher specification to match the building quality. Developers in these areas often provide basic civil finishes — slab flooring, paint-ready walls — so the interior budget is focused on overlay finishes, joinery, and furnishing rather than construction. This is a different cost profile than a resale apartment, which may need more civil intervention before joinery can begin.

Labour costs in Bengaluru are among the highest in the country for finish trades. Skilled carpenters, painters, and tile contractors in the city command day rates that reflect sustained demand. Partially offsetting this is the availability of factory-manufactured joinery from studios with in-house production facilities, which reduces on-site labour time and improves finish consistency compared to site-built carpentry.

Lighting, curtains, and loose furniture are often excluded from the headline interior design quote — but they are not optional. A well-designed space without the right lighting and textiles is incomplete. Budget a further ₹3–6 lakhs for a 3BHK for these categories depending on specification. If a studio quote excludes these entirely, ask for a realistic estimate before comparing total project costs across studios.

Luxury material selection
Material choices — stone, hardware, laminate grade — determine both the look and the final cost.

The most reliable protection against cost surprises is a detailed Bill of Quantities submitted before contract signing. A BOQ breaks cost by line item — material brand, grade, quantity, unit rate, and total — so you know exactly what you are paying for. Vague per-sqft estimates at the pitch stage frequently bear little resemblance to the final invoice. Ask for the BOQ, read it, and question anything that is not specific.

Get at least two detailed quotes for any project above ₹20 lakhs in scope. Review them on a like-for-like basis — the same material grades, same scope, same hardware brands. A lower quote that substitutes materials is not cheaper; it is a different product. Once you have comparable numbers, choose based on the studio's process rigour and execution track record, not just the bottom line.
